The First Steps
Congratulations on your new tattoo! The first day of your tattoo journey is crucial for ensuring proper healing and long-lasting vibrancy. Here’s what you need to know:
1. **Immediate Aftercare:** Once your tattoo is complete, your artist will clean the area and cover it with a protective bandage or wrap. Keep this on for the recommended time, usually between 2 to 5 days, to guard against bacteria and reduce the risk of infection.
2. **Cleaning Your Tattoo:** Once you remove the bandage, gently wash the tattoo with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free soap. Use your fingertips to carefully clean the area, and pat it dry with a clean paper towel or let it air dry.
3. **Moisturizing:** Apply a thin layer of a recommended tattoo ointment or a fragrance-free moisturizer to keep the skin hydrated and promote healing. Avoid over-applying, as excessive moisture can hinder the healing process.

Healing Process
**What to Expect:** It's normal for the tattoo area to be red and slightly swollen. You might also notice some soreness, tenderness, or oozing of plasma. This is part of the natural healing process. If this happens, please remove the wrap and start the process of cleaning the tattoo.
**Do's and Don'ts:** Avoid picking or scratching the tattoo, as this can lead to scarring or color loss. Also, steer clear of direct sunlight, soaking in water (like baths or swimming), and tight clothing that might rub against the new tattoo.
